Encoding Information via Meso-order in Hybrid Optical-Electronic Metaphotonic Devices
Event Details
With the growing demands for rapid and efficient computing, new neuromorphic and quantum approaches are widely considered. Hybrid systems that leverage a combination of analog and digital computing may provide a powerful platform. For example, optical preprocessing with simple electronics can offload specific electronic functions directly to the optics and additionally offer low-power, high throughput computing. Within this hybrid optical and electronic paradigm, I present some of my team’s recent efforts to quantify randomness and random functions with meso-ordered metaphotonic encoders. This biospeculative approach offers simple, robust, and interpretable schemes for low-SWaP image processing.
